Castles of Roquetaillade and Villandraut
The Château de Roquetaillade has belonged to the same family for 700 years. This ancient castle has been modernized in the Renaissance to create windows and then in the 19th century when Eugene Viollet le Duc, interior designer, renovated the decor. With two castles and a chapel, the enclosure is classified Historical Heritage.
The castle Villandraut is built in the early 14th century by Pope Clement V in his homeland. A fortress palace classified as a Historic Monument, this castle allows visitors to retrace the turbulent history of the Aquitaine region through its visit: the Knights Templars, the Franco-English wars and wars of religion ...Over the years, the building changed families before being bought by a man passionnate about Middle Ages, Norbert Fradin, who entrusts its management to an association in order to promote this place of heritage.
